Adobe reader 8.1 will not print?
It says printing on my computer, but I check the print and it registers my print but says 0 pages.
HELP???
Im at work so most place to instal different versions are all blocked.

Ok, 2 weeks ago we upgraded to the power plan of Verizon, which is supposed to be 3mbps download/768kbps upload. Theyve confirmed it as being on and operational yesterday, but still not noticing a different, and speakeasy's speedtest is saying im clocking between 600-650 Kbps. I tried power cycling the modem and Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Still getting the same old speed. Anything I can do? Since they claim it should be working?

Reply:Go to "My Computer" and into the Harddrive that is low. You are going to have to delete programs or other files to make room. Another way is to find Disk Cleanup in the Start Menu %26gt; Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools. This will allow you to delete temp files the computer makes automatically.

Hello. I have a SP88X Kurzweil keyboard, and it has MIDI ports. I have the cables to connect it and everything.
What I want is to be able to use different sounds on my keyboard, while having it connected to the computer. Like, using virtual synth sounds when I play on the keyboard, but I don't know how to do it. I know I have to figure how to configure my keyboard by myself, but... what program should I use? What steps should I follow?

USB modem connection problem?
Hi My modem has a problem that when booting up, the usb connection does not always connect properly. I have tried re routing the cable but this does not seem to have any effect
Can anyone advise me of a way to tighten the usb connections or provide me with a link to a site that will show me how to do this without damaging the plug or socket.
This is not a software problem purely one of connectivity

While writing though, USB modems are not to secure and I would recommend you buy a router for 拢10-15. Think of it as a barrier against nasty people.

(That's an oxymoron if ever I wrote one) When you print in Adobe ensure that you have the A4 option rather than the default Letter settings, the correct printer set, ( It uses a spool printer not the online one attached to your PC unless settings are changed. In fact its all about settings. Open Adobe select Print and then Properties and set it up correctly for the printer that you have.

I doubt Macs will ever be a viable gaming platform. The PC gaming market is in decline, these days developers are choosing to develop games for consoles instead of PCs.
Most PCs are sold with integrated graphics cards, thus decreasing the number of PCs that can play the latest PC games.
Unless Intel creates a reasonably powered integrated GPU, and people stop buying consoles, then the PC/Mac game market isn't going to stop its downward spiral.

Complicated way of connecting S-Video from PC to TV?
Okay, I have no real reason why I want to do this other than I want to experiment and try it out. I'm really doubtful that it'll work, but, oh well.
Is it possible to connect S-Video from my PC to my DVD player, then have regular AV cables connect from my DVD player to my TV to get a signal?
It seems like when I was plugging the S-Video cable to my PC that my TV was having some sort of reaction. Eventhough, my TV doesn't have an S-Video output. And also, my PC recognizes that the cable is connected to something.
BTW, I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 graphics card.

The first real cheap option to make 3D games playable on lower end graphic cards is to reduce your resolution setting in the game. That 20" Benq monitor's native resolution is probably pretty high. Using a lower resolution can make a dramatic difference in the "load" on your graphics card.
So try that before you shop. If I were you I'd spend a bit to double my RAM to 2GB before spending anything on a graphics card.
Try those things. If you are still not satisfied then you can't afford to let price be your biggest consideration. Start savings your money and then come back and and ask again giving information on the specific games for which you really need better 3D performance.

Asus seems to be widely available in this part of the world. If you decide to go for it, that card would probably be a good choice.

You can build your own PC that's fast enough for gaming for between 拢300/$600 to 拢3,000/$6,000 (not including monitor), it's up to you to decide how worthwhile it really is.

I have downloaded all drivers, patches and applications which are available at Sony Vaio website but somehow the camera is not working?? It does not give any display when application, Vaio Camera Capture utility" is turned on.

dude thats the model/part no. you are giving. Provide some more specs of that ram you want to install.
EDIT: from google search it shows that it is a slower ram and old one DDR 333mhz pc2700. I dont think you would want to change to such slower ram and old one when you have ddr2 667.

change your display settings to 640X480 or 800X600. Try playing all DVD in non graphicl player like Zoom Player.

Didnt get most of that. make sure you are only running the dvd it can be quite demanding on the cpu. it uses 25%of the cpu on my comp and its pretty beefy for a single core cpu pc.

Your computer is probably overheating. That could be from a loose heatsink or dust/dirt blocking airflow through the CPU heatsink.

HDD Audio driver for Presario C500 using XPsp2, BIOS has HDD disabled to allow XP installation???
Native SATA support which allows High Definition audio to work has been disabled to allow XP to be installed. Normally XP will not install with HDD support enabled as it doesnt support this hardware, therefore the audio driver I need is useless and only works with Vista. However there is a patch that makes XP support HDD and it is KB888111.exe. Unfortunately this file will not open on my laptop even though it works on my desktop computer. Do I need to update my bios or find a different patch etc. Very confusing and very technical matter. Also please do not point me to any HP, Compac or general driver sites as the standard drivers for my device only work with Vista. Many thanks

I'm getting a laptop soon .. and i can't decide which brand to get. I'm into photoshop, movies, pictures, songs, A!M, anit-virus programs and more, so i want something with lots of room. I need to be able to use my own internet plug-- instead of having to switch over to another company just for my laptop bill. I want it to be fast and efficient , and definately sturdy, but not too heavey or wide. Any ideas ? I'm up for any company, just as long as it fits my description .

The standard reply would be "buy as much computer as you can afford". Get the list of laptops for sale wherever you're planning to buy and search for reviews on the brand/model.

Personally, I am looking into getting a Dell, because their service plans are pretty good, and you can sometimes find good deals on them. A site for such deals is www.gotapex.com. Thermaltake Lanbox Lite Question?
OK, I have done a whole lotta custom builds, but this box is somewhat confusing. I have never done a Lanbox before. I will put my Gigabyte G33M uATX board in with an Intel E6850. Several people have told me I need a low profile cooler...they are, of course, right. Funny thing is that the same people (and Thermaltake) tell me that the best choice is the Thermaltake Blue Orb II...now, I don't know how many of you know about this 2 pound "Killer Frisbee," but it is BIG! Drivers trouble?
hi all basically my pc has just been repaired and my dad told me the man who fixed it said it is now a totally new pc,which means that the people who i origannily bought it of (MEDION UK) are no longer the people to deal with problems and that i will need to ring him in future ok.
So where im stuck is i go in to my device manager and the 3 driver controllers are all marked in yellow which means they aint been installed and i usually would need to download them from the medion website to install them.But on my newly repaired pc's desktop is a folder marked drivers which are different to the ones on the medion website and the ones marked in the device manager am i supposed to use these new drivers or not

If nothing major has been changed the Medion drivers should still work.
If the PC has had a whole load of new innards then you will need to locate the new drivers for the items put into it.

So where im stuck is i go in to my device manager and the 3 driver controllers are all marked in yellow which means they aint been installed and i usually would need to download them from the medion website to install them.But on my newly repaired pc's desktop is a folder marked drivers which are different to the ones on the medion website and the ones marked in the device manager am i supposed to use these new drivers or not

Hi, your HDD is set to SATA and you need to enable the IDE detection in your BIOS setting.
It's different in laptops,just look around in your BIOS and should be under advance section or any where related to your HDD.
If you can't find it, it means you don't have it and you need to download SATA driver for XP.however cos u were using XP b4 so the BIOS should have it.

My external hard disk is almost full. However, I kept trying to store more data. Suddenly all the icons of my files in my external hard disk dissppeared. However, it showed that there is only 5MB left. But I can't find any of my files. They are all missing. Then, I unplugged the external hard disk . Now my laptop can't detect my external hard disk after I plugged the hard disk drive back into the laptop.My external hard disk has been making some " sizzling sound " and very hot .
However, my laptop can detect my friend's external hard disk.

Question 2) I really wanna recover all my files. Should I take into the data recovery specialist? Or I reapair it my self ?
Question 3) I believe I haven't dome anything wrong to my external hard disk. Why do I deserve this ? Can this be avoidable?

Reply:try deleting siome files and they should re-appear trhey are much different from an internal hard disk as the internal hard disk have the motherboards to back the internal warnings up external ones will not alert you untill your dangoursly low on memory delete some files thats all i can suggest good luck
avoiding this is easy use only essential saving do not save junk on it

I was looking for a TV tuner for my computer. Currently, my computer runs at widescreen 1400x900 res, so my computer can run at 720p. I downloaded this program from Cyberlink that tells you if your computer is Blue-Ray ready, and it said that all the requirements are met to get a Blu-Ray disc drive. Yes, I do believe that all printers have 2 cords that plug into it. I know my HP Printer has 2 cords. (USB and power cords)
But, maybe yours doesn't have a USB. You never know.
I would suggest to keep on looking for the USB plug in. If you don't find it, I would look in your manual to see if it says anything that could help you out.

If there's any virus affecting your computer they will find it.

Monitor says no signal detected?
I have recently sent my computer to a guy who installed a new graphics card now my monitor will not turn on it is in standby mode and says no signal detected i have tried the computer on another monitor and is says the same thing. has anyone got a solution or had this problem? if so could you please help me out? many ta's

Most modern gfx cards also have more than one port for multiple monitors. So check that as well.
The next more tricky bit is possible, especially if you have a card and on board gfx. The PC reads GFX from where it is told to go BIOS does that bit, which means it might not know about your GFX card yet so you need to consider BIOS settings.
BIOS, this tells your PC many things, one of which is what graphics card to pay attention to.
You will need to enter Bios. Turn it on and press "delete" when it says "press delete to enter setup."
Then look for a setting that says something like "AGP" or "Graphics". Usually under the advanced settings tab. (It all depends on which Bios you have as to where it is)
There will be a pull down menu if you have on board graphics and you should make sure it doesn't point to the onboard graphics. Saving the change afterwards.
Be careful BIOS is the critical bit of your PC, any mistakes should be exited without saving to be safe.
If unsure take it back and have him check it out.

I have a huge amount of junk on my laptop that is slowing my computer down considerably. Someone on Answers provided me with a list of junk files that Icould remove. However, my computer is still very slow. If I were to do a complete restore with my original start up disc, completely cleaning my system and starting over, would that get rid of all the junk, viruses, trash, etc? Thanks

If you mean reformatting your computer, that would bring it back to factory setings completey, getting rid of ALL your files in the process. You could do the following things though:
It basically means that you need to update the RAM on your computer, that the memory used to process the information on your computer is running low beacause too many things are being run at once.
Some software to clear up some clutter are CCleaner:

Also try using Windows Disk Deframgenter (All Programs%26gt; Accessories%26gt; System Tools)
Another thing you cna do is uninstalling programs yu no longer need (Start Menu%26gt; Run%26gt; Type "appwiz.cpl")
And finally try clearing up programs that run at startup (Start Menu%26gt; Run%26gt; Type "msconfig"%26gt; Go to StartUp Tab%26gt; Uncheck anything you don't need)

To quarantine and completely eradicate this virus or trojan horse, install a good Internet Security with updated definitions. Do not get succumed to free internet security in the web. Of course you can.
One of the great things about computers is that there is always a way to do something. Its just not always the most "fun" way of doing.
First, let me give you advice. It will not be a fun process.
If you want to have XP on the machine as the OS Then you will have to remove Vista in the process. (You can put it back and do what we call "Dual Booting")
If you just want to run Windows XP Programs then I suggest keeping Vista and getting what is called a "Virtual Machine" Which is a program that acts like windows xp and allows you to "install" xpprograms to it.
Virtual machine is really easy to use as well. So don't feel intimidated. Its as easy as running windows in a window. *wink*

If you don't want to do Virtual Machine and you really just want XP as the Primary OS. Then you will end up erasing the Vista Install. If you get a Vista Install CD when you get the computer, then you can very easily install WindowsXP and then WindowsVista. Just remember that when you Install WindowsXP you will have to spend some time getting alot of updates and making sure you get all the correct drivers for your laptop. *Which you can usually get by using windows update
As for whether or not to get it becuase of gaming. I game on a Windows Vista laptop (I have the XPSM1730) and I do just fine. Most ofthe older games that just say "XP" will run on it. So its not a big a deal as everyone makes it out to be.

or is it better to leave it on for the day and turn it off at night? I had a Dell flatpanel that quit working (only 2 years old). I would always turn it off when I got done using it. Sometimes it would be turned on 7 or 8 times a day. This may sound dumb, but I'm new to computers.

Detect drives done no any drive found?
after a power failure due to a storm in my area,computer won't boot.it stays on the xp windows logo page forever..other times it won't even get there it just goes blank..but 1 message flashes every time for a sec it says something about "JMICRON....RAID...detect drives done no any drive found".. rebuild/add/scan/chkdsk/fixmbr/fixboot/.... the xp console did not help at all.. it says a damaged/missing file is stopping the fix.

Now my laptop can't detect my external hard disk after I plugged the hard disk drive back into the laptop.My external hard disk has been making some " sizzling sound " and very hot .

No, your harddrive should not die because of storing too much data. Just like any storage device your Operating System will let you know there is not enough space to write. Definitely 100% not true.
Question 2)
Since you indicated you cannot access the partition of your external harddisk there is 2 things you can do:
- Open the case, remove the hdd and connect it directly to the mainboard of your pc.
- Secondly you could take it to a company specialized in data recovery. If you have no idea how to do the first suggestion I would do this.
Question 3)
As long as you do not travel a lot, bump your external hdd against solid objects / drop it or let your dog play with it, it is just bad luck. It really happens to everyone, so learn to always make backups of what you value most.

RAM not working properly, help please!?
Hi, I just bought 4GB of RAM for my computer (2*2GB). When I inserted it along with the other 2GB RAM chips (2*1GB), everything worked like it should. But when I tried to reboot, nothing happened, the screen was completely black. I tried taking out the new 2GB chips, leaving only the old chips in the PC, and then there was an error message that said, "overclocking failed", and after the error message the OS started up and everything worked properly. I have also tried swapping places so that the old RAM is in the slots where I first put the new RAM and vica versa, and replacing the old RAM so that the only RAM in the computer is the new 2*2GB chips.

Try to use your new memory alone. If it does not work, then your new memory might be faulty and you have to replace it.
There is a good software to do memory test. You can download it and burn it onto CD, then boot from it.
P.S.: Flash drives have nothing to do with memory upgrades.

Basically every graphics card i put into this rig dies. My first card (x1950) worked for a year before dying. Basically the fan on the card runs, it's just that it is not detected. So I used my product service plan from where I bought it, so I was able to switch it for a 3870. It worked great for 2 days and then it died; with the same results as above. Frustrated, I exchanged it for the same card, and also picked up an OCZ PSU as well as a new NZXT Apollo case (fearing it may have either been the PSU or overheating). Again, the new card dies in 2 days. What could it be :S

After formation i got a notice that some data is lost (i.e) outlookexpress data %26amp; some other informaton which was not informed to me to take as back up befor formation now that data have to be recovered is there any prosessor to get back that lost data .If so what is that %26amp; what is the processor . 2. The first screen on the "Complete Recovery" tool will display a list of volumes found on the drives found in your system. If the volume does not have a drive letter, then the volume will be listed at the hindmost and the drive letter will be instead by “*”.
3You should choose the volume that was formatted and click "NEXT" to start searching on this volume.
4. The Intelligent Searching module will scan on the selected volume, collect and analyze every byte on the volume, then show you a list of volumes which are possible on it.
5. After this scanning is finished, Data Recovery Wizard will permit you choosing 6 volumes at best to recover the data. And then, press "NEXT" button. The Data Recovery Wizard will launch the "Building directory" procedure to searching the files. You will see file/folder tree very soon.
6. Select the file or directory that you want to recover and press the "Next" button.
7. Select a directory and press the "NEXT" button to save the data.

What you're trying to say is that the lost data was previously located on your C:\ drive? You formatted the C:\ drive and reinstalled windows?
In that case there is very little change that you will be able to recover your data.
How does file recovery work?
When you format a partitition on your harddrive (in your case the C:\ partition) the format command simply clears the index of that partition, making it appear all your data is gone. Actually the data is still there, but by clearing the index after a format it enables the system to overwrite those sectors when space is needed to store new data.
Since you have installed Windows after the format I would say you have very little chance of getting your data back.
Perhaps you could see if your e-mail provider still has a bulk of the messages on their server which you may download again?

OK, I just recently bought an Intel Q9450...2.66. I originally wanted a Q9550. but they have only come back on the market in the past couple of days. So far as I can see, the only difference is that the 9550 runs at 2.83...only the multiplier has changed. So, I have mildly OC'd my 9450 to 2.83...is that essentially a faux 9550? I just can't see where the minor multiplier difference is worth nearly twice as much as the 9450. Ideas?

The ones which happen to be made slightly better (by luck, nothing more) get higher values on their little tests, and so get a better label.
The Q9450 and the Q9550 are exactly the same chip, but the ones which have the 9550 performed better in intels benchmark.
So yes, you've just turned your 9450 to a 9550.

How to display the color on monitor using rgb value?
I want to convert rgb value to something that can be display the color on the monitor. I have scanned the color chart using spectrophotometer and get the rgb value of that color. After I compute the equation which is, windows color value = (r+256*g+256*256*b). The color displayed on the monitor looks very different. Can someone tell me what is the problem?

You could replace your existing hard drive with one of higher capacity (although you would have to transfer all your data across after reinstalling your operating system).
You could also use an external hard drive (probably connecting via USB, but possibly also via Firewire).

Some laptops provide the possibility to add a second internal hard disk in place of the CD ROM drive, but this is another trade-off. Your best bet is to get an external USB disk as one person has already suggested, one other advantage of this being that it will be a lot easier to access the files you store on it with other computers. There are some nice small ones available. Make sure the one you buy doesn't need an external power supply though or it will be a load more weight to lug about in the laptop bag.

Reply:Because its a laptop there is only room for one hard drive. You can replace this hard drive with one that has more space although you would be getting rid of your original. Your best bet is to get a usb powered portable hard drive (external). Then you can keep your original hard drive as well as have a portable one. Some of these devices aren't even that big so you can transport them in your laptop case no problem, they almost act as a big usb key.
Reply:As has been said, laptops generally do not come with any extra space inside for additional hardware so the answer is no. However you do have options.
It is a very simple process to put as new, klarger capacity hard drive intio a laptop which is what I would recommend. If you don't feel like opening the laptop and learni g about how that is done yourself then you could take it to a shop to get them to do it for you (I would advise first buying the extra drive yourself and then you just pay the shop for fitting it...lower cost from them and for you overall) or you could look around at the different portable options available.
there are many USB operated external hard drives that you could think about. you could consider a USB Stick if they are of a large enough size for what you require? It seems the largest realistic size is 8Gb. Though there is a 64GB one that is unrealistically expensive!

I have to say that all of those options seems to be so much more expensive than the easiest one: Replacing the internal hard drive with a larger capacity one. I would recommend that is what you do. Don't worry about transferring the data from the drive you already have, on to a new one, it is a simple thing to do.

u can install as many as u want and see that u have a good support of ram,as it needs to be faster for searching or processing.
also if u are referring laptop u better consult from your purchasers
Reply:You may be able to get a replacement hard drive for your laptop, but this would mean re-installing the operating system. Some laptops provide the possibility to add a second internal hard disk in place of the CD ROM drive, but this is another trade-off. Your best bet is to get an external USB disk as one person has already suggested, one other advantage of this being that it will be a lot easier to access the files you store on it with other computers. There are some nice small ones available. Make sure the one you buy doesn't need an external power supply though or it will be a load more weight to lug about in the laptop bag.

Reply:Because its a laptop there is only room for one hard drive. You can replace this hard drive with one that has more space although you would be getting rid of your original. Your best bet is to get a usb powered portable hard drive (external). Then you can keep your original hard drive as well as have a portable one. Some of these devices aren't even that big so you can transport them in your laptop case no problem, they almost act as a big usb key.
Reply:As has been said, laptops generally do not come with any extra space inside for additional hardware so the answer is no. However you do have options.
It is a very simple process to put as new, klarger capacity hard drive intio a laptop which is what I would recommend. If you don't feel like opening the laptop and learni g about how that is done yourself then you could take it to a shop to get them to do it for you (I would advise first buying the extra drive yourself and then you just pay the shop for fitting it...lower cost from them and for you overall) or you could look around at the different portable options available.
there are many USB operated external hard drives that you could think about. you could consider a USB Stick if they are of a large enough size for what you require? It seems the largest realistic size is 8Gb. Though there is a 64GB one that is unrealistically expensive!

I have to say that all of those options seems to be so much more expensive than the easiest one: Replacing the internal hard drive with a larger capacity one. I would recommend that is what you do. Don't worry about transferring the data from the drive you already have, on to a new one, it is a simple thing to do.
