If a motherboard calls for 1.8v RAM, what happens if I put anything higher in? Like 2.0v?

Will the motherboard still run the RAM if the ram has a higher voltage than the motherboard specification? Also, the motherboard asks for unbuffered RAM. What does that mean and what would happen if I put RAM in that does not specify if it's buffered?

You want to do that only if you overclock your CPU.

Usually a 25% overclock requires +0.2voltage to the RAM

Some modules like them OCZ or SuperTalent require 2.0v as default voltage.
