Even if the hard drive is fried you should still get some kind of power up, it sounds like your motherboard is fried. If the computer starts but nothing comes up you can try checking your video card.

Sounds like you have a blown motherboard or a bad power switch. Try disconnecting the hard drives, and all RAM). Plug the computer in and a monitor into it. See if you can boot into the computer bios.





Also, check in your manual and see if your motherboard has a bios reset jumper. Reset this and try booting again with nothing connected.
Reply:Did you flip the switch on the power supply? The computer would go on even with a bad hard drive it just wouldnt boot into anything. What made you think it was the power supply to begin with? Sounds to me like you have a bad Motherboard.
Reply:That happened to my notebook a couple of months ago. I went to the service center and they replaced my motherboard. My notebook is ok now...
