I have 3000$ to work with - what laptop should I buy?

I have 3 grand to spend. What mobile, powerful and fast notebook that is top of the line should I buy? I need a descent hard-drive: none of this 80gb macbook air business.

Reply:$3000 would be the price for a high-end laptop for gaming. If you are just going to do office work, then don't spend that much money. However, I would recommend the DELL XPS 1530 or one of the high-end sony laptops with blu-ray.

Reply:I would go with a Sony. They seem to be the biggest hit, if not a Toshiba. It really all depends on what you want the computer for and what you will be using it for. If you go to the store they will probably ask you what you will be using it for and tell you which one will work best for you.

Reply:DELL XPS1330 - go for the T8000 and above processors, up your RAM to 3GB cos you will need it, make sure it has a Geforce for good display processing.





The dell is sleek, a definite wow when people see that.
Reply:call HP and have one custom built to your needs and wants there grate long lasting computers. if i were you i'd do that but if your really in to graphic doing work/art go with a mac just not the air book and what ever you do don't buy dell! everyone i know who has had one it died with in two years and was no good at all after that it like the have built in time bomb in them.

depends a lot on what ur going to use it for.


any type of designing: i.e. photoshop ---%26gt; mac is a must (they have nice simple designs too, look great)


games ---%26gt; alienware [not only games but best of the best (all customizable)]


general---%26gt; hp (also very customizable; they have a lot of deals too and a re cheaper than most so you can get a lot out of your money) dont get me wrong though its not bad just cuz its cheap; theyre great i have one myself xp

then dual nVIDIA 8700M in SLI meaning 1024 MB of dedicated video memory.


4 GB DDR2 @800 MHz


200GBx2 meaning 400GB of total storage in RAID @ 7200rpm.


what it misses is just a blue ray drive but that can be easily resolved with an external usb one.
