i am going to be buying a laptop in the near future and i was wondering which one i should get. any help/comments/stories/suggestions would be greatly apprieciated.
Getting a new laptop?
I don't know about other companies, but Dell has fantastic service on their laptops. The Inspiron line is pretty good but has some problems with durability. My Inspiron E1505 which I bought two years ago I just had to send in so they would fix my screen, the plastic case started seperating on the side of it, but the display still worked fine. The Latitude line is supposed to be much more durable, and I know many people with a Latitude that have never had any problems. I mailed my laptop in for service on a Monday, after talking to someone from Indonesia, they called to say they received it Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday afternoon I got my laptop back good as new.

I would recommend a mac book, its great for every day use, but its little bit on the expensive side.

If your budget is kinda cramped I would head on over to http://www.dell.com/ and look at there inspirion line of notebooks.
Reply:what are you going to use it for?
Reply:Well you need to make sure you get the right laptop. You dont want no slow running laptop. I think a good laptop would be something like Intel pentium Dual core or intel core 2 duo although that is usually a bit more expensive.

You would need atleast 1GB RAM (1024mb) or 2GB RAM (2048mb).

A good laptop would have around 120GB disk space. Although a little bit lower wont matter hugely but do not get below 80GB.

Make sure you have the latest operating system. If you just want it for personal use then Windows Vista home premium would be fine. If you might want it for business use the Windows Vista Business would be better although its not an essential.

A DVD-RW would be useful to burn music and videos on to CD's and DVD's.

A 15.4" screen size would be good but this is really upto your personal preference.

Laptops can be quite delicate and get spoilt quickly so if you can get extra cover with it.. if you can afford it.

That woule be around 拢400. You can check that out on www.amazon.co.uk or www.dell.co.uk.

You can go to PC world, currys or comet and they sometimes have good offers.

However if you want it quick and dont have much searching time I would reccommend you buy a laptop from dell. They are good, reliable and okay in price and usually have a good specification.

P.S. For the operating system you can also get AMD Turion or Athlon 64x2 which is also good. BUT do not get AMD Turion or Athlon 64 as they are usually slower.
