i have a hp pavillion mc 8400f its 32 bit operating system nd i wona upgrade it to 4gb ram but when i put 4gb ram IN it shows only 3gb RAM i dunno whats wrong with in when i go right click on my computer and properties it shows 4gb but on task menager shows only 3gb im using 1 of 2gb and other 2 are 1gb plz help thx

thats because you are using a 32 bit OS. this type of OS can only recongize up to 3.8 gb of ram. this is normal. for more info, i know wikipedia has a great articile on it.

32 bit OS = max of 3.8 GB of ram, it's just a limit for that type of Operating System, if you want to use more you would have to use a 64 bit OS (some versions of Linux, Windows XP 64bit edition, Vista 64bit edition, etc...)
