Which is the best motherboard for AMD?
I am a AMD and Asus fan-I would say-the one in the link below.
Which is the best motherboard for AMD?
"Affordable" may not be in the works for "the best." Full retail on "the best" 790i chipset SLI enabled motherboards can run upwards of $450. I can get a standard two processor server motherboard from Supermicro for that much money. So, it may be "affordable" if you are willing to spend $700 on a processor and motherboard alone.

About the geekist and most highest guru's of PC knowledge are the guys (and gals) at MaximumPC Magazine. This is the ultra-hotrod mag for supermoders, overclockers, system builders and Saturday pokers with computers. And if these guys say, this is "so," you had best believe it.

So this is a place you want to check on the net for advice.

Now, in my own latest (and greatest) investigation of what's what, I located four different 790i motherboards and found that the

ASUS Striker II Formula

Is the hottest mb to come along so far for an AMD Phenom 4X 9850 processor.

MSI has a similar board, not quite as tweekable, but still jam packed full of good stuff.

K9N2 SLI Platinum

Gigabyte also has one developed, but for some reason, nobody on line seems to have one, so I am not going to mention it. It appears to be available "overseas" like in New Zealand, a lot of good that does us in the U.S.

The 790I mb's are still relatively hot at the top and not many are available right now for the best AMD Quad core processors with 1066 Mhz + memory. The problem with quad core is that most software is not multithreaded and so cannot take advantage of the extra 2 cores in a quad processor.

And Vista I think is a dead issue. Microsoft announced here yesterday or today, that they are instead, going to come out with a new O/S called Windows 7. Not much available on this newest O/S yet, and I bet it doesn't come out next year like MS is saying...they always project things a year or two early, get caught up in beta testing, run across who knows what in delays, and end up putting out a product a year after they initially said it was going to be available. I think people are so unhappy and displeased with Vista, that even Microsoft finally has wised up they they have significantly BLUNDERED. It would have been much wiser for Microsoft to just make Vista, XP 2007 instead by extending the stability of the current XP platform rather than reinventing the wheel and stumbling on detail.

Well, hope this explains a few things. Good luck.
Reply:i use a asus m3n-ht deluxe with a phenom cpu it's a alright board they just cant get the bios right but if you dont overclock or anything it's brilliant
