Why does battlefield 2142 keep resetting or turning off my computer?

I bought battlefield 2142 yesterday and I installed it with no problem but when a mission is loading or when Im at the beginning of a level my computer just randomly restarts, returns me to my desktop or switches off altogether. So can anyone please tell me the reason why this is happening?

Have you checked if your video card is compatible. If you have and it is, try downloading a driver for the game this should fix it. If you are running on Vista you will need to set it up through the compatibility stages.

Its lost its way and fighting with you?

Sorry I don't know the reasons.
Reply:its possible that your computer is overheating as computers usuay "Restart/turn off" when this happens to save damage

failing that, check your computer is

1 meets the system requirements of the game !

2 latest directX is installed.

3. video drivers are up2date.
Reply:First thing to do with any game you buy is go to the games website to see if they have released a patch for the game if they have download it and install it. They release the patches to fix problems like the one your describing and also any other glitches that end users find.

battlefield 2142 as you know is a online multiplayer game and i have a feeling its this side of the game thats causing the problems you are exsisting

i had a similar problem infact with need for speed most wanted and the game would switch to the desktop with no warning

both these games are released by electronic arts (EA) and looking on their support website i have seen other instances of situations like this

try disabling your anti-virus scanner ,this can affect pc games especially if the anti-virus defenitions are updating

also press ctrl-alt-delete and then to the processes tab, disable all processes except for explore.exe,svchost.ex and finally taskmgr.exe.,

finally another reason for your problem may be the disk could be damaged, this can make the p.c restart, and since the data isnt complete the disk can become corruped

to stop the restarts right click "my computer"%26gt;properties%26gt;advanced%26gt;startup and recovery%26gt;untick the box marked"automatically restart" then click ok

this will then stop any premature restarts or shutdowns, but you still need to discover the reason for the initiall restarts/shutdowns

good luck mate !

  1. I have used Kaspersky protection for a number of years, and I'd recommend this solution to all of you.
