i have a portable harddrive were i want to keep all my movies how can i do this for free

if you have a lot of space and want to retain menus and special features etc use dvdshrink with dvd43. This will comprees full dvd's down to about 4.5 gig.

if you are prepared to pay for software to do this (rip and compress to about 700meg per film) then magic dvd ripper is excellent and will do it all





bear in mind that re-encoding is cpu intnsive so can take a long time on older machines.
