Which motherboard to choose for AMD Phenom 9550 ?

I have zeroed in on 2 choices -

GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev.1.0)

and

ASUS M3A78-EMH HDMI

Now, I am not able to decide what to choose between the 2. Any pointers/advices ?

I think the two boards will probably be about the same but I would go with the Gigabyte as it won an award and I think Gigabyte is a better company. They have excellent technical documentation, nice BIOS options, and come from a quality company. The Asus boards I have dealt have not been so amazing.

Personally I would spend the extra $45 and move up to a DFI 790FX, but that's me.

Either one will do. As the 9550 is a 95W CPU, these 2 boards, both based on the 780G chipset will do very nicely. Price should be similar so it is a tradeoff of colors, maybe. Both support boards well in BIOS updates and drivers. Both have good reputations. Flip a coin?
Reply:Don't get a phenom they are worse than the intel chips and they are both about the same price
Reply:Gigabyte%26gt;ASUS. ASUS has been having some serious quality control issues across the board recently. I have NEVER had a problem with Gigabyte Mobos...good quality and excellent manuals and documentation. No brainer OC stuff. Everything is labeled on the boards. BTW, I am not an ASUS hater, I have one of their Triton 79 coolers on my new Q9450.
