What is the best computer processor these days?

You're going to get those who will say the AMD Phenom because they have one but the best for proc power currently is Intel Core 2 Quad. Anyone stating a Phenom is a fanboi and I know because I'm not partial to either Intel or AMD, it all depends on who is best at the time. On the other hand it depends on how you define best. Proc power? Power consumption? Price?
What is the best computer processor these days?
Probably the Intel QX9775.

But it's not worth it unless you're a pro overclocker.
What is the best computer processor these days?
Intel Core Quad extremes are probably the best computer procs yets, but it comes at a whopping $1,000to ~$1,500 price range, (first link) but if u want something more like $200 - 300 range the regular Intel Core Quad are the way to go(second link)
Reply:First off...all of the Intel Extremes are a complete snob ripoff, and I am an Intel guy.

Currently, the best buys in Intel are

C2D? E8500, E6850

C2Q? Q6600 (saw an OEM for $189 yesterday), Q6700, Q9450 (why buy a Q9550 for nearly double the price when you can do a modest OC on the 9450 and get the same thing?...also, avoid the Q9300 mini-cache budget ripoff)

Why don't I say something nice about AMD? OK, the make lovely Christmas Tree ornaments.

One word of warning, the 45um Intel chips have a lot of problems with temperature reporting...be advised.
