I'm actually using an Intel Core 2 Duo on a computer I just recently built and I'm very happy with it. They're not cheap, but in my opinion, they're worth it.

Is your mobo a MICRO ATX because if it IS, I think it'll take up to 4GBs of DDR2?

The most recent PC I built is probably the fastest I've ever owned, but when I went motherboard shopping, I wanted to get one that could take DDR3, so I picked up an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel mobo which can take up to a whopping 8GBs of DDR3, though I only installed 4GBs of Patriot DDR3.

With it, it's got three Seagate Barracuda hard drives, adding up to over a terabyte of storage space, two LITE-ON DVD burners (all SATA connections) and a BFG Tech GeForce 8800GTS graphics card to allow me to do high-end digital video rendering.

Needless to say, I attribute the speed of the PC to a great mobo, SATA connections and my DDR3 Patriot RAM.

It wasn't cheap, but for my needs (I do video rendering and burning for a living), it is perfect and extremely fast.
Reply:ditch the celeron processor, get a dual core, even the 21** range are cheap and are great overclockers. they have been reported to be able to overclock to 3ghz on the stock cooler.

i would also get at least 2Gb of ram.. you can get 2x1gb or ram for less than 拢30 on ebuer.com or aria.com

i purchased a pc 18months ago, ive since upgraded it and the only original parts left are the case, dvd writer and the cpu which is the E6300. great cpu and i can overclock it to 3.3ghz

my pc:

E6300 @ 3.3ghz

530watt hyper PSU

Gigabyte 965P DS3 rev 3.3

Arctic pro 7 cooler

2 x dvd writers (litescribe)

ATI 3850 512mb graphic card

19"monitor

great system, i can play crysis at v.high settings so i know its a fantastic game system, only downside is the monitor but im looking around for a 22 or 24" widescreen monitor
